We’re excited to share details of the very first Vocational Celebration Day, taking place on 6 August 2026, bringing together learners, employers, training providers and industry leaders from across the UK to celebrate the value and impact of vocational education.
To mark the occasion, Enginuity and EAL will host a special livestreamed event presented by former apprentice and broadcaster Steph McGovern, featuring inspiring stories and live contributions from across the country as we champion technical skills and showcase the life-changing opportunities vocational pathways create, across all sectors.
The first official Vocational Celebration Day will be held on Thursday, 6 August 2026, to highlight and celebrate vocational careers, champion technical skills, and showcase vocational pathways.
This new annual national day aims to shift perceptions, highlighting the vital role of vocational learners across all sectors, who are vital for securing the nation’s economic growth
By shining a spotlight on vocational training, apprenticeships, and skilled professions throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, it will showcase the vital contributions of vocational skills to the local, regional and national economy across all sectors
Vocational skills have historically been seen as less valuable, less difficult to attain, and less important than academic qualifications. We want to turn this outdated perception around and encourage the nation to spend a day celebrating.
Enginuity and EAL will be hosting a live programme to celebrate Vocational Celebration Day, based in Cornwall, but embracing the whole of the UK, presented by broadcaster, podcaster and best-selling author Steph McGovern.
Former apprentice Steph is passionate about skills and securing parity of esteem with those taking more academic subjects. She also hosts Enginuity’s podcast, Steph on Skills: Powered by Enginuity.
Steph will host the live online celebration, which will be streamed live on YouTube, and shared across EAL and Enginuity's websites and social media channels.
You’re invited to join us live for the hour-long broadcast, where we’ll meet learners, apprentices, colleges, local and national business leaders, parents, local and national politicians, and more.
We’ll be sharing messages of support on social media and aim to secure live links to a number of Vocational Celebration Day celebrations across the country. If we’re inspired by your story, it could be you!
We are looking for colleges, training providers, employers and learners to get involved, to share their learning stories of success.
Think about the stories you want to tell, the learners you want to recognise and the communities you want to reach. Vocational Celebration Day is a chance to show prospective learners, employers and the wider public that vocational education changes lives and powers industry.
By taking part, you will not only celebrate your own learners and staff, but also help build a national movement that gives technical education the status it deserves.
We’d love to hear about your plans for Vocational Celebration Day. Please send details of your celebrations to [email protected].
Together, we can make 6 August 2026 a day that puts vocational achievement firmly in the spotlight.
