New learner email verification requirement from May 2026

As part of our ongoing improvements to digital services, we are introducing a new learner email verification requirement.

From 27 May 2026, learners who are registered with an email address, or who have a new email address added in SAP, will be required to verify their email address.

What this means

When a learner’s email address is added to SAP, they will automatically receive an email from EAL asking them to verify their address. To complete verification, learners simply need to open the email and select the verification link.

Email verification is required to enable access to digital services. If an email address is not verified, these services will not be available to the learner.

Important security information

Verification emails will only be sent from the official EAL email address: [email protected]

Centres should advise learners to:

• Expect this email once their address has been added
• Check their junk or spam folder if the email has not been received
• Only trust and act on emails sent from the official EAL address above
• Select the verification link to complete the process

The verification process only requires the learner to click the link within the email.

EAL will never ask learners to provide additional personal information or data as part of this process. Learners should not click links or provide information in response to unofficial or suspicious emails.

What centres need to do

• Ensure learners are aware that email verification is now required
• Help learners understand what to expect
• Encourage learners to complete verification promptly to avoid delays in accessing digital services

Key assurances

• This requirement applies only to new learners or newly added email addresses
• Learners registered before 25 May 2026 will not receive a verification email
• This does not change the learner registration process
• There is no impact on programme delivery or existing learner records

SAP update

To support this change, a small SAP update will be introduced from 26 May 2026.

A new indicator will appear on the learner record:

• ✓ = Email address verified
• X = Email address not verified

This indicator is for visibility only and will help centres track verification status.
