Welcome to this month’s update from EAL, with news on upcoming events, awards nominations, and new developments in our qualifications offering.
As part of the ongoing national reform of apprenticeship assessment, several key developments are now underway that will shape how apprenticeships are delivered and assessed in the future.
At EAL, we know how important it is for training providers, employers, and learners to stay informed — especially when it comes to changes that could affect planning, delivery, and assessment. That’s why we’ve put together a clear overview.
Read nowThis is an important notification regarding the planned retirement of the EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (501/1605/8).
Working with the industry body, The Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP), the last date for registration on this qualification will be 31 October 2026. However, two qualifications will be available for non-apprentice learners from 1 May 2026.

Read nowWe’re pleased to announce the launch of a new practice engineering fitter exam, designed to help apprentices prepare more effectively for their final assessment.
This practice exam gives apprentices a valuable opportunity to test their knowledge, build confidence, and identify areas for improvement ahead of time.

If you have questions on electrical, plumbing and heating, CPD, reforms, T Levels, or apprenticeships, join us for an informal discussion.
The sessions will be hosted by our BSE Technical Advisors, and often joined by colleagues within EAL who can help you with your delivery and curriculum.
