EAL joins Wales' Heads of Engineering Conference to support future skills

EAL Lead Technical Advisor and EQAs were invited to attend the Heads of Engineering Conference hosted by Cardiff and Vale College to provide updates on the qualifications we offer in Wales, as well as to engage with engineering leaders from colleges across the country. 

There’s a real energy in being around those who develop and lead engineering teams, all working towards the shared goal of equipping the next generation of engineers. 

The event began with a warm welcome and an excellent evening meal prepared by the college’s own restaurant team, a fantastic showcase of the talent, professionalism, and high standards nurtured within the college. 

Day two took us to Cardiff and Vale ICAT campus for a packed programme of presentations and discussions exploring the rapidly evolving engineering landscape. Topics ranged from new-build developments, emerging technologies, and curriculum development to the future skills required by industry. The conversations were insightful, collaborative, and grounded in real-world experience.

The day concluded with a visit to Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd, where world-class engineering, craftsmanship, and innovation were on full display, serving as a powerful reminder of the impact our sector continues to have on industry and society. 

Events like this demonstrate the value of sharing knowledge and best practice, and they highlight the strength of collaboration between Welsh colleges as we work together to develop the engineers of the future.
