We are recruiting experienced engineering subject matter experts and consultant writers to support the development of regulated vocational assessments. 

We are looking for subject matter experts in all engineering disciplines, particularly from an electrical engineering background, and also:  

• Electrotechnical 
• Building services engineering including plumbing and heating 
• Heating and ventilation 
• Welding 
• Refrigeration, air conditioning and air source heat pumps  
• Electronic fire security 
• Battery production and application 
• Engineering maintenance technicians 
• Solar power, Aviation, Metrology, Toolmaking. 

This work includes contributing to setting specifications, writing and reviewing multiple choice questions, and carrying out technical reviews to ensure accuracy, validity, and alignment with assessment requirements. 

About the role

The role will involve: 

• Developing and reviewing setting specifications for engineering qualifications. 
• Writing high-quality multiple-choice questions in line with provided guidance and templates. 
• Conducting technical reviews of assessment content written by other SMEs. 
• Responding to reviewer feedback and making revisions where required following internal quality assurance. 
• Engaging with the development team and responding to occasional queries within reasonable timeframes. 

What skills are required for this role?

We are looking for individuals who have: 

• Strong occupational or theoretical expertise in one of the disciplines above. 
• Experience of assessment writing, technical review, or specification development, or a clear aptitude for this work. 
• The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and precisely in written form. 
• A professional, collaborative approach to agreed timescales. 

This is a contracted, remote role, with work commissioned on a project basis.
