Feedback from the cohort was overwhelmingly positive. Each delegate appreciated the opportunity to have their work recognised formally, especially as many had been performing these tasks competently for years without certification.
Andy Reakes, JIB Chief Operating Officer, said:
“I am pleased to see the uptake of this qualification route for those with many years’ experience in the cabling and jointing sector. The JIB Cabling and Jointing Committee developed this route in 2020 to provide industry recognised training and qualifications, and this achievement gives companies and individuals the chance to validate their competence. Alongside the NET LV Jointer Assessment, this has been needed in industry for many years, and the need is becoming greater with increasing regulations and competence for the UK built environment, with ECS as being the way to validate these core competencies, experience and CPD.”
"Having worked in the cabling industry for 20 years, I am both glad that we now have a recognised cabling qualification and proud to be involved with our first delivery.
"Finally, having a qualification to support individuals with extensive experience should see the trade and industry flourish."
Michael Smith, Senior Cabling Engineer, Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick
"This qualification bridges the gap between experience and recognition. It ensures operatives who’ve been doing the job for years can now prove their competence in a formal way—something the industry is increasingly demanding.”
