This qualification is designed for the post-16 as well as adult learners. It is highly recommended that learners taking this qualification possess a good mathematical foundation to enable them to acquire further advanced knowledge, understanding and skills.
This qualification can be delivered as a standalone or alongside other programmes of study within the engineering field or related subject areas. This qualification will compliment current engineering and related subjects’ curriculums and will prepare learners for further study in the engineering or related subject areas, including some university degree level studies. Equally, this qualification can support progression to direct employment or serve as part of the professional development process.
This qualification also has a UCAS tariff value, allowing learners to earn UCAS points that can contribute to university admissions within the UK. The points allocated for each grade are as follows: a Distinction grade is awarded 12 UCAS points, a Merit grade provides 8 UCAS points, and a Pass grade yields 4 UCAS points. This eligibility can enhance a learner’s academic portfolio, supporting applications to higher education institutions and strengthening prospects for entry into university-level engineering and related programs.
