We are proud to continue our relationship with one of the sector’s biggest celebrations of the year, the Enginuity Skills Awards. The annual event provides an opportunity to recognise the work of engineers in training, and the organisations that enable their development.
For the 2026 edition of the long-running awards, EAL is category partner for the Training Provider Skills Champion of the Year.
This category recognises outstanding commitment to learning and skills development that supports sustainable growth in the Engineering & Manufacturing and Building Services Engineering sectors, through partnerships between education providers and employers.
The Training Provider Skills Champion of the Year for 2025 was UWE Bristol. For almost a decade the university has supported over 1,000 Engineering and Built Environment apprentices, with achievement rates up to 100%. Its Women in Industry project addresses skills and diversity gaps by partnering with employers and STEM networks. Their work has boosted female applicants by 60% in a year. UWE is driving inclusive growth and closing skills gaps across the West of England through mentoring, outreach, and collaboration.
Simon Flenley, Assistant Director of Research & External Engagement at UWE Bristol said: “We are so proud of our apprenticeship programmes, and the opportunities they provide for increasing access and participation and addressing under-representation. This award reflects the hard work and dedication from so many people, underpinned by the critical projects that UWE Bristol delivers such as Women Like Me.”
We can’t wait to join our colleagues in Engineering & Manufacturing and Building Services Engineering at the next edition of the Enginuity Skills Awards, being held in London next July.
Alison Parkes, Managing Director of EAL, said:
“EAL is the specialist awarding organisation and end-point assessment organisation for the Engineering & Manufacturing and Building Services Engineering sectors. We recognise the significant value and contributions of the training provider skills champions, and their work with employers, to go the extra mile to help learners succeed and develop.
“We look forward to discovering who makes the shortlist for Training Provider Skills Champion of the Year 2026, and hearing about all the great work of these skills champions.”
