EAL is entering the EPA of two Level 3 Welding standards to help learners spark off a rewarding career.
Later this month we’re hosting a webinar showcasing some valuable insights into how EAL can support your Plate Welder (ST0852) and Pipe Welder (ST0851) end-point assessment needs. We’re bringing our expertise, support, and guidance for a much-needed skill in the sector, encouraging employers and training providers to help develop the next generation of engineering talent.
The UK is facing a skills shortage in wider engineering and manufacturing, and particularly in welding – a 2023 report from Axiom Personnel estimates that half of the UK’s welding workforce will be retired by 2027. A WorldSkills UK estimate puts the shortage at more than 35,000 skilled professionals – and Workplace Journal stated that only 231 trainee welders graduated in 2024.
Without stronger numbers of welders in the workforce, projects up and down the country face delays, cancellations and conflict – affecting not just the economy, but also the UK’s competitive prospects across different industries.
As we prepare to unveil the new Level 3 Welding standards, we want to get more people into welding, developing valuable skills and making a difference to the industry.
